Ekuthuleni Lodge, situated in the heart of the malaria free Welgevonden Game Reserve, invites guests to relax next to the swimming pool overlooking sweeping grassy plains, or watch the sun as it sets at the end of an African day. If the weather is cool, curl up with a book in one of the comfortable lounges before enjoying a delicious meal prepared with the freshest ingredients available. Meals can be enjoyed in the cozy dining room or on the open-air deck, sheltered from the elements by a reed awning.

Welgevonden is home to the "big five" - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. This malaria-free reserve has many species of antelope, zebra, giraffe, baboon, hyena and other fauna foraging on planes and verdant slopes, while perennial waters hide crocodile and offers sustenance to a huge variety of birds.

The pristine beauty of the Waterberg region offers a variety of habitats: riverine scrub, woodland, grassland, fertile valleys and great tracts of water, both above and below ground - a natural paradise for game and an unfolding ecosystem which will reflect the legendary herds of Africa"



The main lodge consists of a library, lounge, fireplace and bar with a magnificent view of the plains.  

The inviting swimming pool is very popular for cooling off in the summer months. 

All suites come complete with coffee and tea making facilities, indoor and outdoor shower, ceiling fan and private deck. The view is complimentary too. 


Each of the 5 suites at Ekuthuleni Lodge offer guests intimacy, privacy and magnificent views of the grasslands – giving a whole new meaning to nature on your door step. The romantic bathrooms open onto a private courtyard and have both indoor and outdoor showers.Each suite has it's private view of the open plains that stretch out in front of the lodge. 


Summer stretches from October through to April with lovely hot summer days and warm nights. Afternoon thunderstorms are common.

Winter months are from May to August. Days are beautifully warm with cold, crisp mornings and evenings. Warm clothing is required for game drives.
