The Retreat

With only twelve suites The Retreat is an exquisite hideaway offering complete seclusion in the heart of the remote bush lands that comprise Selous Game Reserve, the largest protected wildlife sanctuary in Africa. Guests at The Retreat are invited to share a rare, intact ecosystem of Africa which is perfectly untouched and can be explored in many different ways.

Offering complete luxury and seclusion, The Retreat delivers an authentic safari experience which is complemented perfectly by the elegant tented suites, exquisite food and breathtaking views. A must for honeymooners and those looking to experience the Africa of a bygone age.

Need to Know

The philosophy at The Retreat is based on respect for the power of ancient traditions, local communities, natural materials and untouched nature. Game drives deep into the African bush, safari walks, hikes, fishing on the Great Ruaha River and spa treatments make for a safari experience like no other.

Driving, walking, boat, fly camping, fishing, hiking. Elephants, lions, black rhinos, leopards, wild dogs, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles and more than 400 different birds can be seen among many other wildlife. Line fishing may be rewarded by bagging the likes of tiger fish and catfish.
