Connected by a wooden walkway, our thatched suites offer a remarkable private wildlife-viewing experience. Each suite is well appointed for guests’ optimal comfort with every amenity, including large, en-suite bathrooms each with a spa bath overlooking the African bush, an indoor and outdoor shower for the more adventurous, a central fireplace for romantic evenings, air conditioning, underfloor heating, private wooden deck, bar fridge and hot drink amenities.

Need to Know

Clothing - Dress code and clothing is informal. It is advisable to wear loose fitting and light garments in summer, layering clothing in winter. Sensible shoes are important in the rough terrain. A warm wind breaker jacket or jersey for game drives even in summer is a necessity.

Food - Please inform management at Bukela of any specific dietary preferences you may have before arrival.

Water -The water is not for human consumption. Complementary bottled water is provided.

Included in your stay are morning and evening game drives leaving from your lodge. You will be guided by informative, professional rangers through Amakhala Game Reserve in open Land Rovers. Here you can return to nature and explore the abundant wildlife, the diverse vegetation and the dramatic landscape of the Eastern Cape.

River Cruise

A nice alternative during lengthy stays on the Amakhala Game Reserve is our river cruise. The boat meanders down the Bushman’s river, beaming with incredible bird and plant life. The cruise is between 30 to 40 minutes to be enjoyed at your leisure with mouth-watering snacks and ice cold beverages. Perfect way to spend your day during the warm weather. All river cruises are made by prior arrangement.
