Need to Know

The Kalahari can get very hot in the early summer months before the rain starts, but the game viewing is excellent at that time.

Winter can be very cold, especially early mornings and late venings. Bring warm clthing for those chilly game drives. We do supply blankets as well on the vehicles.

Plus a host of differnt birds, including the Lappet faced vulture, Cory Bustard, raptors etc.

Dinaka Safari Lodge offer a range of activities that show-off the best that Central Kalahari has to offer, including:

Game drives – both during the day and at night. Watch the vast landscape transform as the sun sets and darkness settles in over the bush revealing new creatures and night-calls. For the keen photographer, catch special moments on camera.
Nature walks with Bushmen trackers – learn from our Bushmen on a guided walk with them through the bush. See how they live and survive in the harsh Kalahari. Stargazing – the night sky is a diamond studded wonder. Learn about the various constellations, as we relax around the campfire. Birding – with over 200 positively identified bird species, the Central Kalahari trul is a birders paradise.

Dinaka Safari Lodge has a wide variety of animals, from giraffe, to the antelope – eland, kudu, gemsbok, impala, hartebeest, wildebeest, springbok, duiker and steenbok – to the reptiles, insects, birds and small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine – to the predators – the Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard and brown hyena.

Each of the 8  tented chalet nestles under the branches of the 'Purple Pod' trees; blending in with the natural surroundings. Each has an en-suite bathroom, with an open air shower and flush toilet, and a bedroom with large white linen covered beds (king size or 2 singles). Two of the eight tents are suitable for families. Each tented chalet has a covered veranda overlooking the waterhole. One tent is wheelchair friendly.

The spacious main lodge is furnished with comfort in mind and provides you with lounges, a dining and bar area, a large open deck under thatch and a splash pool for those hotter summer months. To minimize any effects on the pristine natural environment the camp is 100% solar operated.

The game has to come to drink at the waterholes, so they are easy to see.

The low season is the rainy season, and equally beautiful with the green bush and flowers.

Families with small children will have to hire a seperate vehicle for game drives- USD150 per day.

Parenst are responsible for their children at all times. There are no babysitting services.
