Entamanu Ngorongoro

Our camp sits a remote spot on the Northwestern edge of the Crater rim, miles from any other lodge. Accessed only by way of a private road that follows the contours of the rim, even the drive to get there in is breathtaking, with dizzying views to the Crater floor beneath.

Our crater is still a lambent lost world of wildlife, giving us flashes of how the first humans must have experienced it; watching as the sun rises over the perfect bowl of the Crater and then sets again over the immense plains of the Southern Serengeti.

And by day there is the breathtaking wildlife of the Crater floor - one of Africa's most remarkable safari experiences all in the shadow of the 3000 ft high Crater walls.

And then there’s the rest of it…Empakai, Olmoti, OlDonyo Lengai: legendary names and places for us to explore, almost completely ignored due to the rock stardom of their famous cousin, and unfairly so.

We have had some of our most amazing wildlife and cultural experiences out here: hundreds of Jackson’s Whydah birds pogo-ing in a field of grass, two leopards peering through the old mans beard on a pillarwood tree, one elderly Maasai lady tending her pots in a deserted highland village.

Castaway in the highlands at Entamanu, we define our own Ngorongoro.
