Fifty Seven Waterberg

Situated three hours north of Johannesburg lies Fifty Seven Waterberg, a gem nestled in the heart of the Welgevonden Game Reserve and home to the Big Five in a malaria-free area. The Waterberg Biosphere Reserve was declared an official UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. This magnificent five-star establishment is synonymous with tranquillity, solitude and luxury; not to mention the surroundings of the breath taking panoramic views of the Waterberg mountains.

Guests can unwind next to the infinity pool that overlooks a shallow valley and mountain stream that flows to a waterhole. The five spacious suites are placed strategically along the small hill to provide maximum privacy and intimacy. All are equipped with king-sized beds, fireplace and relaxing private deck where you can unwind while listening to the birds sing. The honeymoon suites have their own private Jacuzzis for the ultimate de-stressing pleasure or sipping on a glass of sparkling wine.

Cooler nights can be enjoyed at the boma around a welcoming fire under a starry sky - a very special place to be savoured by the discerning individual.

A Haven for Wildlife

While a stay at Fifty Seven Waterberg offers our visitors the ideal opportunity to chill out and relax, the Welgevonden Game Reserve, in which we are located, forms part of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, which was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. This area is thus home to an awesome array of flora and fauna. In addition, we offer the wildlife enthusiast the added benefit of being located in a malaria-free zone.

Besides the reserve’s status as one of the few locations in which it is possible to spot all of Africa’s iconic Big 5, the region also has more than 50 species of mammals. For the dedicated bird watchers, the region boasts in excess of 300 species of birds.

To ensure that our guests are able to enjoy the best possible wildlife experience, we also provide the services of a knowledgeable and experienced local guide.

Our 5 suites have been furnished to the very highest standards, and features a king-sized bed and its own private patio with a magnificent view of the bushveld. Each room has a study desk and a comfy armchair, as well as coffee & tea making facilities.

At the main lodge, our guests are welcome to sit back and enjoy some downtime with our comfortable sofas and armchairs which help to create a relaxing living area, while other equally well-designed areas provide guests with spaces in which to work.

If you’re not out on a game drive, lounge on the beds on the deck at our crystal clear blue pool. The boma is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner around a welcoming fire and under a starry sky – you’ve never seen the stars as bright as they are when you are in the Waterberg area.
