Kasaka River Lodge (Zambia) - SHUT DOWN

Kasaka River Lodge is a 20 bed tented camp offering an affordable and authentic safari experience in the Lower Zambezi.

Nestled on the banks of the Zambezi River the lodge is set in a natural bush environment with each chalet secluded amongst the native flora, only 4 kilometers by road from the Lower Zambezi National Park.

This is the only stretch on the 2,700 kilometer course of the Zambezi River where one finds National Parks on both banks of the river - the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia and the famed Mana Pools World Heritage Site in Zimbabwe.

Need to Know

Relax! It’s the only thing we insist upon at Chongwe Safaris.  You can put your feet up on our furniture without worrying what anyone is going to think... Or curl up amongst plump cushions with a good book and not bother about appearances... We like great service and winning smiles more than dressing for dinner.

These are the ethics we take seriously in all of our award-winning accommodation options.

Chongwe Safaris offers guests an unmatched variety of activities including day and night drives, boat cruises, walking safaris or our flagship experience, canoeing, which offers you the opportunity to view wildlife from a more natural perspective. The Lower Zambezi is also widely known as one of the best places to catch (and release) a tiger fish or two.

Local ActivitiesLocal Activities

A policy of non-intrusive enjoyment of wildlife and low environmental impact has helped to make the Lower Zambezi valley one of southern Africas premier game viewing destinations.

Add to this the amazing fauna and flora found in and on the banks of Africas fourth largest river, and you begin to understand why this amazing wilderness is so special.

At Kasaka River Lodge, activities are tailored to make the most of this incredibly diverse wilderness

The park is a short 15 minute drive from the camp. Game viewing can be done from a vehicle in either the Lower Zambezi National Park or the Chiawa Partnership Park or, if you prefer, from a boat on the Zambezi.

Canoeing, walking and, of course, fishing, are also offered. And for those interested in the rich cultural heritage of the area, community visits can be arranged.

Kasaka has two wings to the camp. Our cultivated tame side has manicured gardens with swimming pool and colorful indigenous plants whilst the 'wild' side is set in a more natural bush environment and is connected to the lodge by overhead wooden walk ways which allow for the passage of wildlife underneath and within the camp.

Kasaka's main living area and bar are nestled among the tamarind trees creating the perfect location to sit and watch the world go by on the river

Classic tent

Kasaka offers an authentic and memorable safari experience set in a natural bush environment. We have two ‘wings’ to the camp - our cultivated ‘tame’ side has beautiful manicured gardens and indigenous plants whilst our natural ‘wild’ side, is set in a more rustic environment and is connected to the main lodge by overhead, wooden walkways to allow for the passage of wildlife within camp.

Our 8 classic tents are walk-in style safari tents which accommodate two single beds or one king size. Each has an elegantly furnished en-suite bathroom with flush toilets and powerful, heated showers. Outside verandas create the perfect spot for watching the world go by on the river.

Our honeymoon tent, Wild Mango, is located at the end of the 'wild' side and also benefits from a secluded extended deck and outdoor bath. The perfect place for viewing game on the banks of the river under the African sky.
