Lion Camp

Lion Camp is located in one of the best game viewing areas in South Luangwa National Park, 42km north of the main park gates and away from the busier Mfuwe area. The lodge is an intimate refuge of comfort and tranquillity, accommodating up to eighteen guests.

The rooms stand high above the savannah on stilts, linked to the lodge by a system of boardwalks.  With no fences surrounding the lodge, wildlife is free to move unhindered, under the walkways. Elephant, hippo and small antelope such as bushbuck and puku, are frequently seen in camp.

Lion Camp is currently undergoing major renovations. We are staying true to our vision which is to provide exceptional and eco-friendly safaris at a reasonable price point. The whole camp will be elevated as before, built with sustainable decking timber. The rooms will be spaced further apart for more privacy, and will have canvas walls and a thatched roof. Evening Breeze cooling units will be installed over the beds for maximum comfort in the hotter months. The bright acid colours of the soft furnishings will be replaced by a more muted colour palette.

We will reopen in May 2018.

AccommodationAccommodation

New Rooms & Suites (opening May 2018)

With incredible game viewing literally on our doorstep, all the rooms have been designed to maximise the views.

The rooms will be spaced further apart for more privacy, and will have canvas walls and a thatched roof. Evening Breeze cooling units will be installed over the beds for maximum comfort in the hotter months. These units, along with the rest of the camp, will be solar-powered.

During the day, the netting at the front of the room can be tied back to access a shaded private deck directly from the bedroom. Bathrooms will be off to the side to provide more privacy, whilst ensuring an unobstructed view out.

Two private suites will maximise the prime locations at the end of the camp. They are similar in design to the standard rooms but will be larger and will have secluded outdoor bathtubs.

The Sunset suite has been designed with families in mind and will be able to accommodate 2 adults + 2 children. The Lagoon suite will be more suited to honeymoon couples.
