Morokolo is a boutique luxury game lodge situated in the private concession of the Pilanesberg National Park called the Black Rhino Game Reserve. We are a 2½ hours' drive from Johannesburg in the Platinum province called the North West and a recent winner of The Luxury Travel Guide for Contemporary Luxury Lodge of the Year 2017.
We offer exciting daily big 5 vehicle safaris with our own dedicated game rangers, scrumptious dinner and breakfast at the reserve restaurant, and the peace and tranquillity of the African bush, all included in our DBB rates.
Professionally-guided vehicle safaris twice daily are included in your DBB rates. Early morning walking safaris are also available as an extra.
The Black Rhino Game Reserve is a private reserve linked to the Pilanesberg National Park. We have exclusive access to the wilderness area of the Pilanesberg that is off limits to the normal traffic of the Pilanesberg Park. Safaris are conducted exclusively by our knowledgeable game rangers in our specialised game-viewing vehicles only.
Buffalo regularly roam in this area as they take shelter in remote areas not accessible to other visitors to Pilanesberg National Park. Characterised by a beautiful forest of Tamboti trees the Black Rhino Reserve is home to the BIG 5 (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant, and White & Black Rhino) as well as cheetah and wild dog. Antelope species include Sable, Tsetsebe, Eland, Gemsbok and Springbok. With a species list of over 354, the Black Rhino Reserve is also a true "birders paradise".
Vehicle and walking safaris are available at the lodge whilst hot air balloon safaris, rhino tracking walks, quad biking, archery and the cultural village experience are available at Sun City, only 35km from the lodge. The Palace of the Lost City and the Valley of the Waves as well as the entertainment and gambling centre are only 40 minutes' drive from the lodge.

In the entertainment area we have a lounge with shared TV (with DSTV), self-service honesty bar and games rooms with pool/ snooker and board games. Outside the entertainment area we have a swimming pool with sun loungers and a boma area. Twice a week we have a traditional South African braai for dinner.

Each season in the African bush has it's own secrets and beauty -
We recommend a minimum 2 night stay which includes 4 vehicle safaris. This gives a better chance of seeing the big 5 animals and the various scenic aspects of the Black Rhino Reserve as well as the Pilanesberg National Park. If you would like to sleep in one morning, or do an early morning walking safari we recommend staying an extra night or two.
Our rates are R2 900 per adult sharing per night Fridays and Saturdays and R2 600 Sundays to Thursdays. Children 12 years and under only pay half rates while children 2 years and under stay free. The single supplement is R750 per night. These rates are valid until 30 September 2017.
October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018 Rates are as follows:
Sunday - Thursday : R2950 per adult sharing
Fridays and Saturdays : R3275 per adult sharing
The rules governing game drives in the North West Province do not permit children under the age of 6 years on the game drives for their own safety. If you would like we can arrange a baby sitter to look after them at an hourly rate, and then in the morning when possible after breakfast we take them out on their very own game drive for about 30 minutes to see what we can see at a safe distance. Children between 6 and 12 years are permitted to join the adult game drives at the ranger's discretion.
