Nduara Loliondo

Nduara Loliondo

Nduara Loliondo is unique in Tanzania. It offers guests unparalleled freedom and a wholly natural and fascinating encounter with the Maasai. Best of all its your own private part of the Serengeti Eco-system

Nduara Loliondo gives us access to this wild and wonderful part of the Serengeti eco-system. Few visitors know about this area, but the Maasai have subsisted adjacent to the world's greatest wildlife phenomenon for over three hundred years. Here we shrug off the strictures of the national park and can get out on foot, game drive off road and at night and enjoy the wildlife without any other vehicles for company. We also love encountering the Maasai on their own terms and getting a glimpse of their diminishing lifestyle - quintessentially East African.

Need to Know

Combine Nduara Loliondo with Serengeti Safari Camp for your perfect Serengeti safari. You'll get your migration fix but then enjoy the incredible landscapes, freedom of walking safaris and have the wildlife to yourself. Remember that Nduara operates only between December and March which is the best time of year in southern Loliondo and the height of calving season in the migration.

Wildlife HighlightsWildlife Highlights

Catch the migration during calving season in the southern plains. Get out on foot and see a different side of the bush. Drive at night for a chance to spot predators on the prowl and some of the more unusual species that you wouldn't normally see during the day.

Local ActivitiesLocal Activities

Early morning game walks to a bush breakfast, sundowners with Maasai dancing and a night drive back to the camp, visit a Maasai boma and enter an engaji (Maasai home), watch morning milking or hike with the donkeys to collect water, watch the stock returning in the evening to be counted and checked for illness or injury, witness traditional "blood taking" and the "olpul" (milk & blood drink), drive off road across the southern plains to view the migration away from the crowds and talk to the Maasai about their way of life and of living alongside wildlife.
