Nkonzi Camp (Jackalberry Safaris)

Welcome to Nkonzi Bush Camp, our beautiful safari camp set deep inside the South Luangwa National Park. We are well off the beaten track and offer authentic tented accommodation with excellent safari guiding. Nkonzi Bush Camp is one of the most authentic bush camp experiences in Zambia.

Nkonzi Bush Camp is tucked away in a secret, exclusive corner of the South Luangwa wilderness.

We are 45 minutes from the South Luangwa main gate and set beside the dry white sand Mushilashi River. Surrounded by pristine indigenous woodland, grassy plains and seasonal waterholes, Nkonzi is the perfect safari location.

Nkonzi Camp occupies an exclusive, off the beaten track location inside the South Luangwa National Park.

Safaris are led by owner and safari guide, Gavin Opie, who has over 10 years' experience guiding within the South Luangwa.

Gavin Opie Safaris offers walking safaris and game drive.

The focus rests squarely on an authentic and original safari experience.

Need to Know

Nkonzi bushcamp is inside the South Luangwa National Park

The distance from the camp to Mfuwe International Airport is approximately, pending on sightings, 1.5 hours.  Half of this journey is through the national park itself.

Zambia is in a malaria area, we recommend all our guests take prophylactics and to consult their doctors before travelling.

Zambian visas can be bought on point of entry. Guests their visa costs for their country of origin before travelling. It is best to pay in US$ cash and to have the correct change.

Zambian's currency is Zambian Kwacha, which can only be exchanged within Zambia. US$ dollars are widely accepted within the tourism industry as are payments using VISA.  Local businesses may only accept Zambian Kwacha (ZMW); US$ dollars are easily and widely exchanged for ZMW.

The local language within the South Luangwa area is Nyanja, however, English is taught in schools and widely spoken.
