Sausage Tree Camp

Sausage Tree Camp is set in the most stunning location on the banks of the Zambezi River in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park's best game viewing area.  Awarded Bronze "Most Romantic Safari Property in Africa" 2017 and "Best Location in Africa" 2016 other Accolades have been from Harpers Abroad, for 'Best for Style' and BBC's choice of Ten Most Luxurious Resorts of the World.

The camp overlooks an expanse of narrow channels and low set reed islands teeming with game, with the magnificent Zambezi escarpment as the backdrop.

Guaranteed private guiding, activities include day and night game drives, walking safaris, canoeing, boating and fishing.

With a maximum of 18 guests accommodated in 7 Luxury Suites  each with large decks and private plunge pool overlooking the Zambezi River and serviced by a private Muchinda (Butler). The Kigelia family tent is made up of 2 ensuite bedrooms joined together by an open plan dining and lounge area with its own private plunge pool.

The recently rebuilt Front of House Tent houses the Dining, Lounge and Bar areas and connects to a large 25m lap pool which is idyllically situated overlooking the mighty Zambezi River.

Sausage Tree Camp is the epitome of ‘bush chic’, offering all of the game, all of the luxury, but without all of the people. Set on the banks of the Zambezi River overlooking the hippos, elephant and buffalo usually seen grazing the Chifungulu channel.

Guaranteed private guiding allows guest the flexibility to be able to experience any activity at any time, including day & night game drives, walking safaris, canoeing, boat cruises and fishing. Guest are also treated to our signautre water lunch and bush dinner experiences.

Wildlife HighlightsWildlife Highlights

Guests commonly spot porcupine, honey badger, genet, civet and bush baby, as well as lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, zebra, kudu, impala and waterbuck. The park boasts 378 bird species and the river is teeming with crocodile, hippo, and tiger fish.

Total 8 rooms: 

  • The 7 "Luxury Suites" each boast, loung area, dining area, bar and a king size bed overlooking the private pool set into the expansive deck.
  • Kigelia House' is the perfect choice for small groups or families, with two en-suite bedrooms separated by an open plan living area leading onto the private deck and pool.

Each tent has its own personal Muchinda (butler) to attend to your every whim. All tents have 24 hour power and plentiful hot and cold treated water.
