We are a small luxury eco camp set up in a forest on the banks of the Mara River, inside the Masia Mara National Reserve. An authentic experience that is close to nature combined with luxury that captures the elegance and adventure of a bygone era.
In addition to the exceptional setting of the camp with its special ambience, the cuisine and wonderful game viewing experience, our well qualified guides consistently earn the praise of our guests. Our bespoke approach means that each group of guests sets their own daily agenda with flexibility according to their personal preferences.
Being a seasonal eco camp, we have no permanent structures and make minimum impact on the environment in keeping with our conservation values and practices. Aware that local communities need to benefit from tourism, nearly all of our staff are local Maasai.
Our location on the banks of the Mara River, close to the Musiara Marsh affords exceptional game viewing. We are fortunate to have 4 eco-zones, with the corresponding variety of animals and birds on our doorstep and are located in the area where The BBC's Big Cat Diaries and Disney's African Cats were filmed. We are within easy reach of major "crossing" points during the annual migration.
In addition to game drives and a guided walk in the general area of the camp, we offer longer walks on the Seria escarpment with its superb views of the Mara plains below. Guests will usually enjoy a bush breakfast and starlit dinner as part of their visit to the camp. For those wanting to do so, we can arrange for a visit to a nearby traditional Maasai manyatta (homestead) to experience local customs and culture as well as a balloon safari.
At the centre of the camp are the two lounge tents, and a spacious dining tent with lovely views of the river and hippo below. There is also a camp fire area enjoyed by all in the evening before a noteworthy four course dinner prepared by our chefs.
In keeping with the intimate nature of the camp, there are only 7 sleeper tents: each has a river view and offers privacy and exclusivity. Thhe large en suite tents are tastefully furnished with campaign furniture to capture the romance of traditional East African safari style.
We have been featured in the Kenya Airways magazine and received a Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor during our second year of operation.
We are open all year except for mid April through May and the month of November when we close for the "rains."
